WSIA's U40

U40 is a dynamic group of insurance professionals under the age of 40 who are currently employed by WSIA member firms.  U40 encourages the exchange of educational and industry critical information among members, promotes professionalism and is an avenue for young insurance professionals to become more involved in the surplus lines community. U40 Connect is an annual meeting with education and networking opportunities, peer-led panels and interactive roundtable discussions. U40 members assist the association by attracting new college graduates and young professionals to the surplus lines insurance industry via college outreach. You can view the U40 Value Proposition here

U40 Benefits

U40 Connect

This year’s event will be hosted November 8-10, 2026 in Washington, DC. Registration will open in August.

WSIA's U40 hosts a number of events allowing young professionals to network with one another. Contact Chelsea Lenhart, [email protected], with questions.

U40 Membership Directory and Networking

U40 members are also encouraged to network informally among themselves. Members interested in arranging an event in their area should contact a member of the U40 Board. WSIA makes certain member contact information available only to WSIA members for use in networking and conducting business. Please click here for a searchable U40 Member Directory.

If you are a current U40 member and need to update your company affiliation in the Membership Directory, contact Chelsea Lenhart, [email protected].

U40 Giving Back

U40 is partnering with Letters Against Isolation to spread joy with handwritten letters to residents of assisted living facilities and nursing homes. This is a woman-founded organization that has brightened over one million seniors’ days since their start during the pandemic. Anyone can sign up through their portal to participate as an individual or group project. LAI’s impact has grown quickly from demand, and their letters now reach seniors in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. There are a ton of resources on their website, linked above.

College Outreach

A large part of U40's work involves partnering with the Talent Outreach Committee to conduct college outreach and help students understand more about career opportunities in the industry. If you would like to be part of that outreach, please email Christine Timmerman, [email protected], with your full name, firm, contact info, alma mater and nearby schools you would be able to visit.
