John Meetz
John Meetz is the Director of Government Relations for WSIA. He is responsible for implementing the membership’s government relations and legislative advocacy program. John also provides support for regulatory inquiries and assists members in their regulatory compliance efforts at the state and national level. John holds a degree in Political Science from Kansas State University, with a minor in Business, and a Master’s Degree in Government from Johns Hopkins University.
John joined the team after four years with the American Academy of Actuaries as a Life Policy Analyst where he provided staff support for the Academy’s Life Practice Council that served as the primary voice for life insurance actuaries on public policy issues in the United States. John worked with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and the National Congress of Insurance Legislators to develop effective public policy using the actuarial expertise and resources of the Academy.
Prior to his work with the American Academy of Actuaries, John served as the Government Affairs Liaison for Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger. He also conducted field operations for two of Commissioner Praeger’s successful re-election campaigns.
