For insurance professionals new to or with limited surplus lines underwriting exposure or experience

About the Program

This course is designed to establish an underwriting foundation in the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines market through a combination of online and in-class courses for insurance professionals new to surplus lines and/or interested in developing an underwriting skill set. The course is case study centric and focuses primarily on the Property and General Liability lines of business.  Attendees expand their insurance terminology and strengthen their underwriting approach. At the end of the program, through classroom facilitation, discussion and thorough case studies, students will be more effective in their jobs.  Download a program brochure here to learn more.

Who Should Attend

Underwriting Boot Camp is ideal for insurance professionals new to or with limited E&S underwriting experience. Underwriters with only single-line experience will also find this program beneficial.

Registration and Fees

  • Registration for the 2019 program opens April 22, 2019.
  • Tuition is $925 per participant
  • Registration closes June 18, 2019.
  • Hotel accommodations are the responsibility of the participant.

Travel Information

Students should plan to arrive on-site by 8 a.m. on the first day of class. Departing flights should be scheduled for after 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. 

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is located 15 miles south of the training location.

Underwriting Boot Camp Cancellation Policy

    • Registrants can receive a full refund, less a $50 fee for processing, if the request is made by June 3. 
    • Registrants can receive a 50% refund between June 4 and June 17.
    • No refund is offered after June 17.
    • Should you cancel within four weeks, you will have a limited time opportunity to substitute someone else at your firm as an alternative to the above refund policy. 
    • All requests must be made in writing to Denise Marshall, denise@wsia.org.
