WSIA Awards

Vincent Donahue/Charles McAlear Industry Award

The Vincent Donahue/Charles McAlear Industry Award is the association's highest distinction. The award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry.  It is named after Vincent Donahue and Charles McAlear, who were pioneers of WSIA's legacy associations. Donahue was instrumental in encouraging competitors to join AAMGA and McAlear initiated organizational efforts to form NAPSLO in the early-1970s and served as its first president from 1975-1977.

Earle Dillard Award

The Earle Dillard Award honors the contributions and outstanding service of a WSIA Committee Chair. The award is named after Earle Dillard, who served as President of Bloss & Dillard and as WSIA legacy association AAMGA's President from 1973-1974. He led many AAMGA initiatives including a group that shaped many of the AAMGA's operating policies in the mid-1960s and was instrumental in the formation of the AAMGA University Foundation in 1988. Prior to the formation of WSIA, NAPSLO awarded the President's Award, which also recognized outstanding service by a Committee Chair.

Richard Bouhan Legislative Advocacy Award

This award honors individuals whose advocacy helps advance the legislative interests of the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry. It was created in 2006 by WSIA legacy association, NAPSLO, to recognize Richard Bouhan's legislative work on behalf of the industry. Bouhan served as Executive Director of NAPSLO from 1988-2011.

Life Membership

As one of its first actions, the WSIA Board of Directors designated all Past Presidents and recipients of the AAMGA’s Vincent Donahue Lifetime Achievement Award and Charles A. McAlear/NAPSLO Industry Award as Life Members of WSIA.
